APPLICATIONS for agricultural technology accelerator program, GrowLab close today.
An initiative of self described “super-incubator” Cicada innovations, round two builds on a successful pilot in 2018.
Successful applicants for the six-month program will receive resourcing, mentoring and a $30,000 cash investment to grow an agricultural food technology business.
Participants will also take part in a national and international placement program, held across regional farming centres in Australia and the US.
Cicada Innovatiotions, GrowLab general manager, Tristonne Forbes, said technologies in the agricultural food sector have the potential to address food supply and scarcity issues.
“This is what makes programs such as GrowLab so extremely vital,” he said.
“It is one of the reasons why we decided to broaden and tailor the assistance provided this second time around.
“The success of last year’s pilot was also another key factor in the decision to extend the program.
“As we now have firsthand proof of the benefits provided by commercialisation assistance.”
Mr Forbes said there are a number of enormously talented agricultural food technologists and researchers in Australia.
“The challenge lies around how we can take their technologies and intellectual property from out of their labs and workstations, and onto our farms where it has the most impact and value,” he said.
Mr Forbes said he encourages agricultural food technologists and researchers to apply.
“The program involves a three-month structured program in Sydney, followed by three months of incubation in Cicada’s incubator where they will have access to co-working spaces, wet labs and hardware space,” he said.
“There is also over $250,000 in program value for participants, including facilities and mentorship networks.”
Applications close on the 3rd of May.
