QUALITY cattle and high prices featured at Boyd O’Brien Bartholomew's annual Moreton Beef Classic Show and Sale on Thursday.
Gerry Muckert, Karrabin, scored two of the top awards, exhibiting both the champion trade beast and the champion pen of three trade animals.
All four animals were purebred Limousins that had been on grain for 120-plus days. The 445kg heifer went on to sell for 328c to return $1460. The 683kg pen made 330c to return $2255/head.
Beaudesert State High School came up trumps in the export steer class. That 760kg Limousin-cross bullock made 312c to return $2371.
The champion grassfed beast award went to a Charbray/Hereford-cross steer that had been running on oats. Exhibited by Bernie and Crystelle Duncombe, Arakoon, Nanango, the 645kg steer made 312c to return $2012.
Charlie and Vicki Clarke, and their daughter Rachael, Grassmere, Beechmont, had the champion pen of feeder cattle. The 20 month old Santas were bought as weaners at Toogoolawah and sold at Moreton for 300c to return $1458/head.
Noel and Liz Cook, Kindon, Goondiwindi, sold 100 day, 695kg Charbray steers for 326c ($2266). Kilcoy Global Foods also bought 100 day 711kg grain steers from Stanhope Cattle Company, Cushnie, for 324c ($2303).
Triple P Pastoral, Toogoolawah, sold 100 day 630kg Charbray steers for 324c ($2041). Thomson Brothers, Nanango, sold 100 day 600kg Limousin cross steers for 324c ($1944). Peter and Fran Eggleston, Toogoolawah, sold 100 day 680kg Charolais cross steers for 322c ($2190).
The Christoffel family, Gleneagle, sold 635kg Charolais cross grain steers for 320c ($2032). Grain assisted 693kg steers from The Southport School made 310c ($2147) selling to Teys Australia, Beenleigh.
Limousin steers 515kg from Jen-Daview Limousins, Kingaroy, sold for 304c ($1566). JBS also bought 515kg Limousin cross steers from K&T Falkenhagen, Croftby, for 302c ($1555).
Kingsford Farms Family Trust sold 100 day 570kg grain accredited steers for 318c ($1812) to Kilcoy. Mitch Upton, Murgon, sold 675KG Limousin cross steers for 304C ($2052). Teese Trading, Beaudesert sold 595kg Charolais cross steers grain assist for 302c ($1797). JBS also bought 520kg Limousin cross steers from Jaw Rural, Warwick, for 306c ($1591).
J&M Livingstone, Maidenwell, sold 485kg steers for 310c ($1503). Limousin steers 468kg from Jagera Farming sold for 312c ($1459) to N&P Wholesale Meats. Tom Surawski, Croftby, sold 485kg grain heifers for 318c ($1542) to Highchester Meats.
Glen Hills Pastoral, Moore, sold 459kg grain access heifers for 306c ($1404). Stanhope Cattle Co, sold 458kg 70 day grain heifers for 304c ($1393) to Nolan Meats.
Stanhope bought 438kg feeder steers from Hills Family, Chinggee, for 305c ($1323). BJ&CA Smith, Coominya, sold 440kg Droughtmaster feeder steers for 300c ($1320). Stanhope also bought 398kg feeder steers from Glen and Janelle Cahill, Christmas Creek, for 312c ($1240).
Look Enterprises, Nerang, sold 438kg Droughtmaster steers for 306c ($1341) to Marcelford Meats. Laura Neuendorff, Minden, sold 375kg Euro cross steers for 302c ($1133). Limousin cross steers 418kg grain assisted account D&S Silcock, Mutdapilly, sold for 318c ($1330) to Hillcroft Feedlot.
Dowling Farming, Geham, sold 477kg Charbray heifers grain assist for 300c ($1430). Limousin cross steers 380kg account G&N Hingst, Prenzlau, sold for 308c ($1170). Gallanani Grazing, Esk, sold 430kg grain assist heifers for 304c ($1307) to Reedy Creek Butchery.
Brendan Varley, Marburg, sold 395kg Euro cross steers for 304c ($1200) to Kilcoy Butchery. B&G Bidgood, Blackbutt, sold 360kg grain accredited Euro cross steers for 306c ($1101). Jilabri Family Trust, Milbong, sold 400kg Limousin cross grain assist heifers for 302c ($1208).
