Wind gusts as strong as 111 kilometres per hour ripped through Longreach early on Thursday morning in a storm that also brought 30 millimetres of rain to the town.
Other parts of western and central Queensland could also be in for rain later on Thursday as two separate bands move across the interior.
The Longreach landfill and the Longreach Lawn Cemetery were both closed on Thursday as council workers cleaned up in the aftermath of the storm.
Although the storm scattered trees and large branches through the town, there was not any major damage.
Just over 12mm of rain was recorded in Winton between 2am and 4am on Thursday, and 4mm fell in Blackall between 9pm Wednesday and 9am Thursday.
