Six animal activists have been charged with one charge of theft each over the alleged theft of livestock at the Gippy Goat Cafe at Yarragon.
Security footage allegedly shows about 70 animal activists storming the cafe on the weekend before Christmas, and loading three goats and a lamb into the back of cars.
The lamb and a milking doe were returned to the cafe after being found at a Koo Wee Rup home wearing human nappies, but in a shocking turn of events, Gippy Goat Cafe reported that last Thursday, the milking doe, named Angel, was again taken by thieves.
In a Facebook post, the cafe said it was an extremely serious legal matter as the doe was being kept under police instruction as evidence of the alleged prior crimes.
This is allegedly the third time in six months they have been victims of theft.
“The continuing harassment of our business and the greater farming community by these misguided extremists, criminals and abusers needs to stop,” the Facebook post said.
“We are hopeful that the political and farming leaders will rise to the activists’ challenge.”
