Marking it's 30 year anniversary in 2019, Landcare Australia is inviting nominations for the 2019 State and Territory Landcare Awards.
Thew awards recognise individuals and groups for outstanding contributions to land management practices and preservation of the Australian landscape.
Landcare Australia chief executive Shane Norrish said the awards are an opportunity to honour the spirit of inclusiveness and diversity of his organisation.
"Landcare represents a diverse community coming together with one common goal - local people working on local issues,' Dr Norrish said. '
"The 2019 State and Territory Landcare Awards give us the chance to recognise and honour tireless Australian volunteers who unite to make a positive impact on land management practices in communities around the country."
"Landcare is voluntary. Nobody is ever saying 'you have to join in' but when you do, everyone is welcome. It's not a closed club."
Landcare has played a leading role in changing Australia's approach to sustainable agricultural practices, environmental protection, conservation of land and waterways, coastlines and biodiversity.
For over 20 years, the Landcare Awards has celebrated those working towards sustainable land use and undertaking on-ground action to protect, enhance or restore an area on behalf of the community.
