Sullivan Livestock yarded 1694 cattle at their Gympie cattle sale on Monday where the market was firm to dearer for all descriptions.
Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Coulston Lakes, Tansey, Kilkivan, Woolooga, Maryborough, Aramara, Conondale, Maleny, Kenilworth and all local areas.
Charbray feeder steers from Coulston Lakes topped at 294c to return $1323. Droughtmaster steers from Michael Brown, Wilson's Pocket, sold for 291c ($1355). Droughtmaster steers from Chris Ayling, Wolvi, made 284c ($1241). Brahman steers from Bill Jamieson, Tiaro, sold for 279c to return $1233. Simmental cross steers from Bill and Sue Blakeney, Coondoo, made 275c ($966).
Droughtmaster weaner steers from Michael Norman, Glen Echo, topped at 273c ($814). Droughtmaster steers from the Blanckensee family, Kandanga, made 271c ($748). High grade Brahman steers from the Schultz family, Scotchy Pocket, made 253c ($707) and 257c ($584). Angus cross steers from Minto Trust made 267c ($649). Generally weaner steers sold from 220c to 230c.
Quality Simmental cross feeder heifers from Neville and Lyndall Ensbey, Kandanga, made 275c to return $1066 and $1056. Bill and Sue Blakeney, Coondoo, sold Simmental cross heifers for 273c ($1007 and $1003). Charbray cross heifers from Howard and Brenda Kirby, Gemini Downs, Goomboorian, made 265c ($997).
Better quality feeder heifers generally sold from 250c to 275c. Weaner heifers topped at 279c for quality Brahman heifers from Paul and Kerry Bognuda, Kilkivan, to return $610. Restocker and backgrounder heifers sold from 200c to 238c pending quality. Good conditioned vealer heifers sold from 185c to 220c. Plainer types of heifers sold from 150c to 178c.
