Glen Innes Hereford bull sale held its 74th annual bull and female sale at Glen Innes on Friday, with 81 bulls going under the hammer with 30 sold for a 37 percent clearance with a sale average of $5000.
There were three heifer lots on offer with two selling for an average of $1500 and the final heifer passed in.
With 116 registered bidders from four states, despite the tough conditions the vendors were very positive.
The $14,000 sale-topper and top-priced bull was 25-month-old Supple Naked who weighed 1125 kilograms with a scrotal circumference of 40 centimeters and was purchased by Bluey Commins, Ensay, Victoria for his stud operation. Bluey also purchased Swanvale Exceptional N718 to add to his draft.
The second top price bull was 26-month-old Kylandee Narrabri who weighed 1130kg with a scrotal circumference of 45cm and was purchased by Chris Lisle, Tummel Herefords.
The bulk buyer of the day was Stuart Larsson, Maraseeds, Mallanganee who purchased four lots with an average of $5375 and a top price of $8000 for the Grand Champion bull Kylandee Nerong who weighed 1020kg with a scrotal of 44cm.
Mr Larsson runs an organic cattle company and will be using the bulls within this enterprise.
