The benchmark Eastern Market Indicator is poised to crash back through the 1600 cents a kilogram clean barrier after jumping 49c at today's sales in Sydney and Melbourne.
The pass-in rate was a low 3.8 per cent on a national offering of 18,052 bales which included 4216 bales at the Fremantle sale in the west.
The Northern Indicator jumped 62c in Sydney to land at 1622c on an offering of 4764 bales.
AWEX said Merino fleece prices for 18 microns and finer rose by 60 to 70c while the broader categories ended the day 50-60c higher.
Merino skirtings were in keen demand with the finer microns rising 60-80c. Crossbred wools jumped by the same amount.
The Southern Indicator climbed 43c to 1570c at the Melbourne sale where 9072 bales were offered.
All Merino fleece micron price guides lifted by 45 to 55c. Merino skirtings finished the day 30-40c higher across all microns and descriptions.
Well prepared crossbreds wool opened 45 to 50c dearer and maintained those levels to the close of the sale.
Across the Nullabor the Western Indicator rose 28c to 1700c. The pass-in rate was 7.4pc on a small offering of 4216 bales.
The Fremantle fleece market climbed for the fourth consecutive sale. Prices for 19 micron and finer lifted by 30 to 45c.
Merino wools 19.5 micron and coarser were 20-30c dearer. Merino skirtings 18.5 micron and finer were 35 to 40c higher while skirtings 19 micron and coarser rose 15 to 25c.
A national offering of 20,420 bales is rostered for tomorrow.
Today's sale grossed $32 million.
