When it was suggested that a Facebook Group be established dedicated to growing seedlings for drought affected gardeners, Jess McLaren didn't hesitate to volunteer her time.
And so the Drought Garden Recovery Project was born.
"We saw what impact the drought was having not only on people's paddocks but on their gardens too," said Ms McLaren of Norwra, NSW.
"Gardens are so important because they give people an opportunity to get away from the drought."
Ms McLaren said a supply of seeds had been donated by seed company, Mr Fothergill's, and these had been sent out to about 50 gardeners across Australia.
"Once the drought breaks they'll go out to people who are ready to plant them," she said.
Ms McLaren said some seedlings had already been sent out to gardeners impacted by bushfires in NSW and Queensland.
She said anyone who wanted to either grow seedlings for others or request plants should join the group.
