WARRNAMBOOL, Vic, company Midfield Meats has ruled out that it is interested in buying Fonterra former factory at Dennington in south-west Victoria, amid speculation it was vying for the site.
Dean McKenna said the company had "considered" bidding for the site, but the age of the facilities meant the proposal was unsuitable.
"We have had a big think about it, but definitely not," Mr McKenna said.
"The reasons being, we prefer very modern process operations that we gain maximum efficiencies out of."
Mr McKenna said he "wouldn't know" whether the company was among potential buyers Fonterra says are interested in the site.

Fonterra has previously stated that "several" non-dairying parties have expressed interest in buying the site. A spokeswoman said last week there were no further updates.
The site is about 35 hectares and includes 10 major buildings of varying ages.
The dairy giant announced the factory's imminent closure in May, due to a declining milk pool that the dairy giant said led to it under utilising the ageing facilities.
Workers are due to complete a deep clean and vacate the site by the end of the month.
The company is also working through arrangement for the site's Waste Water Treatment Plan with Wannon Water and the Warrnambool Golf Club, with the golf club set to continue to access treated water from the site.
