A year on from its initial release, the Farm Service Manager app has been adopted by more than 500 farms, allowing full digitisation of machinery and service records.
Walgett NSW farmer and Farm Service Manager founder David Ricardo said he was continuing to focus on growing the business and had recently enrolled in the Farmers2Founders bootcamp program, a three month course focused on building customers, accessing finance, and understanding pathways to scale up a business.
Mr Ricardo said the program had been fantastic in helping him to think about the next moves for Farm Service Manager.
"I thought marketing grain for thirty years was a tough business, but building an app from the ground up is harder," he said.
"It's great to have an idea, but its a much harder thing to make it successful, even if it is a good idea.
"The program is backed by some really smart people with a lot of experience in agtech and the business world who work to get the best out of you and your business."
Mr Ricardo said the idea for the Farm Service Manager app came about when he looked for a solution to problems on his own farm.
"We kept a service book in the shed, this lead to problems with access, missing records and reliance on one copy," he said.
"We needed an app, where everyone had an electronic version of this book.
"Farm Service Manager is an app which allows operators to manage maintenance and servicing of all tractors and machinery all from their phone."
Mr Ricardo said one of the new features in the app was the ability to conduct and record daily machinery inspections.
"The new updates have been fantastic for meeting workplace health and safety requirements," he said.
