The Traprock district is poorer with the passing of John Pratt, who was killed on Sunday evening in a single quad bike accident on Tollando, west of Stanthorpe.
Mr Pratt, 63, was located by family members at the scene of the accident on Waghorn Road at 7.50pm.
Together with his wife Julie and family, they operated a sheep, cattle and stone fruit orchard over the Tollando and Waghorn aggregation.
A close family friend who did not wish to be named described him as a stalwart and absolute pillar of the community.
He was heavily involved in all aspects of the community and remembered as a good friend who looked out for everyone.
Some of Mr Pratt's involvements included the rural fire service, water and wild dog committees, the Traprock Association and he was the driving force behind the Pikedale Community Hall Incorporated.
He is survived by his wife Julie, son Nigel and partner Stacey, daughter Rachael and son-in-law Wally Nielsen, daughter Belinda and partner Sam Tomlinson, grandfather to Dugald and Maggie, and his brothers Tony and Michael Pratt and their families.
