The end of the 2020 stud selling season may be nearing, but the demand for quality genetics hasn't slowed.
Following the trend of many other sales this year, the annual Cream of the Crop Droughtmaster female sale achieved a 100 per cent clearance rate, when 100 lots went under the hammer at the Coolabunia Sale Complex near Kingaroy on Saturday.
The day also incorporated the dispersal of stud No.22, Truvalle Droughtmasters, for Margaret Wilson who topped the sale at $16,000.
A breakdown of the Cream of the Crop catalogue saw eight vendors sell 30 unjoined stud Droughtmaster heifers to a top of $10,500 to average $4241, while 70 head from Truvalle averaged $4593.
Topping the sale was Ms Wilson's pregnancy-tested-in-calf 3D Kayda (P).
Sired by 3D Import (P) and out of Vale View Yaroline (P), the 38-month-old was purchased by Les Howard, Benjamin Droughtmasters, North Aramara.
Topping the unjoined offering at $10,500 was 13-month-old Seymour Layne (P) (IVF) (AI), sired by Glenlands Quicksilver (P) (ET), on account of Rob and Kirstie Orphant, Seymour Droughtmasters.
Seymour Droughtmasters sold six heifers to average $6000.
Dave and Colleen Smith, Vale View Droughtmasters, sold four heifers to average $5250, topping at $8500 for Vale View Daegan 2 (P) to Nick Dudarko, Biloela.

Paula Gill, Araketa Droughtmasters, sold five heifers to average $3600, and Matt and Rebecca Brooks, Major Droughtmasters, sold three lots to average $4500.
End of an era
It was a day of mixed emotions for Margaret Wilson, Blackbutt, as she dispersed Truvalle Droughtmaster stud.
In a fitting end for the stud, Keith McRobert - the first auctioneer for the Truvalle on-property sale - auctioned off the last of the lots at the sale.
A breakdown of the Truvalle lots saw 23 cows sold for an average of $5000 and top of $7000; while 39 heifers sold to average $4435 and top at $16,000.
Seven yearling bulls sold for an average of $3071 and topped at $4500, and one used sire sold for $13,000 to CP Smith and HJ Brosnan.
A top price of $7000 for a cow and calf unit was achieved twice, when Truvalle Roanna 57th (P) was knocked down to John and Shannon Williamson, Cebella and Yellowwood, and Truvalle Tamara 42nd (P) sold to Riversleigh Cattle Co and Mountview Droughtmasters.
Ms Wilson acknowledged her son Cameron members of the family, Sandy Hammond, Leonie Nichols, Dhana Stokes, Hamish Hutchings, Liss Lees, Bruce Wilson, David Brian Mills, and Phil Sheridan for their help with the preparation of the sale and said it made her feel very proud seeing them there supporting her at the stud's dispersal.
Strong support from volume buyers saw Reesville Droughtmasters purchase six Cream of the Crop unjoined heifers to average $4750, while R and C Smith, Yangan, went home with five Truvalle lots to average $5500.
GW and AM Woodrow, Blackbutt, purchased five Truvalle lots for an average $4900, and Daniel and Holly Dzundza, Penjobe, Springsure, purchased five Cream of the Crop lots for $4600.
Andrew Clarke, Molan Droughtmasters, Thangool purchased five to average $3600.
Sale co-ordinator Graham Brown said it was a great result with support from buyers from Springsure, Rolleston, Upper Barron on the Atherton Tableland, Wallumbilla and Casino, NSW.
"The sale saw nearly 50 per cent receive online bids and was the best result from Elite platform that the Cream of the Crop sale has had," Mr Brown said.
"There was very strong support for Margaret's cows and calves selling from $5000 to $7000 repeatedly, and a top of $16,000 for a joined female and $13,000 for a used sire."
Selling agent Midge Thompson, Aussie Land and Livestock, commended the Browns for the hard work they have done for the sale, as well as the vendors for the presentation of the cattle.
"The top heifers sold extremely well and met extremely good competition with a strong presentation of buyers, with 80 registered bid cards and 60 online bid cards from Queensland, New South Wales and into Victoria," Mr Thompson said.
The sale was conducted by GDL Dalby and Aussie Land and Livestock, Kingaroy.
