A large offering of quality females saw the laneways full of prospective buyers at the Neslo Brahmans female reduction sale on Monday.
After 45 years of breeding Brahmans, the Olsen family put 110 females and two bulls under the hammer to achieve a clearance rate of 91 per cent and overall average of $5582.
A sale breakdown saw 14 cows average $3535 and top at $5000, 58 cow and calf lots average $6293 and top at $24,000, 30 heifers average $4850 to a top of $11,000, and one used sire made $15,000.
Strong demand for quality genetics never to be presented again, pushed the sale to a top of $24,000 for a calf and cow unit.
Mike Teelow, Ambos Beef, Araleun, Bilyawa, paid the top money to secure Neslo 4454 Y Dollaro De Manso (H) by Yoman 2069/2 (H). At foot, the female had red bull calf 5133, sired by NCC Astronaut.
"She was definitely the pick of them, with her length, depth and temperament," Mr Teelow said.
"I went through the history of the female line as fertility is very important to our breeding, and I traced her bloodlines right back to the first of the Indu/Brahman type cattle in 1953.
"She will go into our small Indu herd at Araleun, Bilyawa."
Ambos Beef purchased a total of four females with calves at foot to average $11,750.
MA & DA Duggan, Acacia Creek, Killarney, purchased the second-top priced cow and calf, Neslo 4475 Y Kisserone (PS) with a red bull calf at foot, for $17,000.

Patrick Sharpe, Angle S Brahmans, Dunda, Taroom, paid the top price of $15,000 for used sire NCC Astronaut (IVF) (H) who had calves in the sale and was sired by JDH Mr Elmo Manso (IMP US) (H).
Bulk buyers Richard and Sallyanne Olsen, Arresso stud, Bouldercombe, purchased a total of 12 lots - four cow and calves, three cows and five heifers - to average $4750.
Lance and Sonia Faint, Karmoo, Clermont, purchased three cows with calves at foot and four heifers to average $5485.
Mark Hamilton, Central Grazing Company, Mount Charlton, purchased a total of five cows and two cow and calf units to average $3500.
At the fall of the last hammer, Marcus Olsen said it was a bittersweet day and a credit to his parents Marg and the late Andy Olsen on the result of the sale that saw their passion and vision shine through.
"It will be good to see how they breed on in other people's herds and definitely a tribute to Dad and all the work he did in building his herd," he said.
Marg Olsen said the family decided to have an auction sale as a tribute to Andy as it was almost a year after the funeral that they could not have.
"To have a day to get together and chat and celebrate Andy, and all the people that turned up at the sale, was tremendous," she said.
Nutrien auctioneer Mark Scholes said there was good local support, as well as the cattle going to a good spread of buyers throughout Queensland and New South Wales.
"With very strong cattle sale prices, it was a good, strong sale," he said.
