Year 7 students at Victor Harbor R-7 School have immersed themselves in the Cows Create Careers program, discovering what the dairy industry has to offer.
As part of the program, students have engaged with dairy farmers and industry advocates, who have vision and the dairy industry knowledge to encourage and support their studies.
The program, run by Jaydee Events and funded by SADA Fresh, also offers students the opportunity to spend time caring for calves.

Three-week-old calves Daisy and Sparks have spent times with the students, who have ensured they are fed, watered and healthy each day. As well as mixing milk, putting out hay, grain and measuring the calves, the students have also been engaging in many rich learning activities aligned to the curriculum.
Jaydee Events director John Hutchinson said a new partnership with SADA Fresh allowed students the opportunity to learn about the diversity of professional careers and pathways within Australia's vibrant dairy industry.

"We're delighted to be partnering with SADA Fresh, their support means that the project continues to be delivered to 35 schools across South Australia," he said.
"It's very rewarding to see the results of such an innovative project, and through this new partnership Cows Create Careers will continue to get better and better. We believe it's going to be a great association."
As part of the program, schools are provided with a three week dairy industry curriculum at no cost.
A local dairy farmer teaches students how to care for the calves, while an industry advocate visits schools to speak about their career pathway in the dairy industry.
At Victor Harbor R-7, thanks was expressed to local farmer Mr Mulhern, industry advocate Ms McCaul, FPAG Victor Harbor for the loan of fencing, JAYDEE Events project managers John Hutchinson and Deanne Kennedy, MaxCare Premium Calf Milk Replacer and SADA Fresh.
