A total of 40 bulls sold for an average of $7263 to record an 85 per cent clearance from the 47 bulls offered at the Mooroobie Angus bull sale held at Lindsay and Helen Ward's on-property bull sale last Wednesday.
A breakdown of the sale saw 35 Angus bulls sell to average $7285 and top at $11,000, while five of seven Wagyu bulls sold to average $7100 and top at $10,500.
Matt Hann, Davidson Cameron, Moree, purchased the top price bull for $11,000 for Mooroobie Enhance Q51, a bull weighing 862 kilograms who was in the top 20 per cent for figures.
Mr Hann also purchased Mooroobie Reality M19 Q84 for $10,000.
There were two equal second-top price bulls.
The first was Mooroobie Enhance Q10 described as a heifer-suitable sire prospect who weighed in at 812kg and sold for $10,500 to Bryan Lahey, Lahey Family Trust, Goondiwindi. They also purchase Mooroobie Reality M19 Q45 for $8500.
The other equal second-top price bull was a Wagyu - Mooroobie Q01 which sold to Alison Gadd, DJ & JRA Witten Partnership, Barraba, New South Wales, for $10,500.
Bulk buyer Luci Rafferty, Javor Pty Ltd , Guyra, NSW, purchased five bulls to average $6600.
Richard Whale, Independent Breeding and Marketing Service Pty Ltd, Wangaratta, Victoria, purchased a total of four lots to average $6000.
Darren Smith, Nutrien, Goondiwindi, said it was great to see repeat buyers.
"There were buyers who were bulk buyers and long-time supporters of the Mooroobie bulls," he said.
"There were also some new buyers to the sale who showed their support. Buyers came from local areas, and as far away as Tasmania who all purchased on the online system."
Vendors Lindsay and Helen Ward said they were happy with the results and the support shown by repeat buyers and some new buyers.
"Good bulls rose to the top and at sale like ours with the helmsman system, it's in the buyers favour and you get a more even pricing," Mr Ward said.
