A Forest dairy farmer has been appointed to the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture's advisory board for a three year term.
Dr Angelique Korpershoek, who is currently the chair of Dairy Tasmania, hopes her vast experience in the dairy industry will be beneficial, especially with dairy farming being the largest land-based agricultural sector in the state.
"I have been a vet and I have been a dairy farmer for the last 17 years," she said.
"I will look to bring a scientific and practical farmer industry perspective to the role.
"I think it will be a big win having dairy experience."
Dr Korpershoek explained what she hoped to achieve across the three years.
"Our role as industry members is to provide industry perspective so the research, development and extension is as relevant as possible for the agriculture industries in the state," she said.
"I think any industry representative wants the best for farmers and food production and the research in reality has to be relevant to farms and production and more importantly sustainable for farmers to be profitable."

Dr Korpershoek and husband Isaac milk 350 Holstein Friesian cows across a total of 180 hectares of owned and leased land.
Dr Korpershoek is joined on the board by Peter Skillern and Elizabeth Skirving.
Mr Skillern was most recently chief executive officer and company secretary of the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association, while Ms Skirving has been chief executive officer of Rural Business Tasmania since 2006.
The trio replace outgoing board members Dr Hazel MacTavish-West, Dr Davina Gregory-Dunsmuir and Mel Rae.
The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture is a joint venture between the University of Tasmania and the Tasmanian government.
