MENINGIE dairy farmer Tim Wright has been recognised as one of the best young operators in the industry, taking home the Best Young Farmer award at SA dairy's night of nights.
Wright was recognised along side Bool Lagoon's Andrew Cavill who won Best Relationship with a Processor and Most Innovative Farmer winner Jamie Nietschke from Moppa at the South Australian Dairy Awards 2021 at Adelaide Oval on August 25, an event where SADA was the premier partner.
Wright manages the day-to-day operations of Majesta and Greendale, a 1440-hectare dairy operation with 350 milking cows, 300 replacements and 25 bulls.
According to his nomination, the management of the dairy, overseeing and the rostering four fellow workers, milking, feeding, maintenance of farm infrastructure and breeding have all become Tim's tasks over the last few years.
"He has handled all these new responsibilities with maturity and skill," it continued.
"On top of his regular duties, Tim is always keen to participate in discussion groups and learning opportunities before applying farm management philosophies and technical abilities to continue to build and develop.
"He is always preparing for a future in dairy farming which is sustainable and acceptable to the consumer."

Mr Wright said he was excited to have won the award and thankful for the recognition.
"I guess what it shows that I am where i should be, in the industry I am in," he said.
"There are plenty of other young farmers as deserving as I am but its good to promote the industry in a positive light," he said.
"It was a great night, about 300 people from all over the industry from farmers to cheesemakers to politicians were there."
Mr Wright said he had been working full-time as a dairy farmer for about 11 years.
He said one of the major challenges the industry faced was a a labour shortage but operations were positive.
"We've been going okay, the prices are okay and the season is looking good," he said.
SA Dairyfarmers' Association president John Hunt congratulated the winners.
"What's happening in South Australia's dairy industry is very exciting and these award winners clearly represent that," he said.
"Whether it's improving relations between farmers and processors or implementing cutting edge technology to improve operations, our producers are doing amazing work."
