Numbers reduced by 689 head to 4094 at Dalby on Wednesday.
Cattle were drawn from a wide area with over 900 head from far western Queensland, plus some small consignments from SA, as well as NSW.
Buyer attendance was good with all the local operators in attendance, plus representatives from southern export processors and restockers.
The quality of the young cattle was not as good as the previous week, however this had no effect on prices, and plain conditioned lines dominated the cow section.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock continued to improve in price. Yearling steers to feed experienced very strong support and yearling heifers to feed averaged 23c to 30c/kg better.
Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors lifted in price by 6c to 7c/kg pushed on by southern export processors. Plain conditioned cows returning to the paddock improved in price by 6c to 9c/kg also pushed on by southern operators. The better end of the cows to export processors were in demand and averaged 9c/kg dearer.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 600c to 651c and sold to 678c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 559c to 576c and sold to 610c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 508c and made to 568c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock or background averaged from 568c to 594c with sales to 632c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 515c to 549c and sold to 590c/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feed averaged 427c and made to 468c/kg. Heavy weight steers to export processors made to 435c to average 426c/kg. Bullocks made to 433c to average 416c with some very heavy bullocks making to a top of 410c/kg to return $3214/head.
Medium weight plain conditioned cows returning to the paddock averaged 356c and sold to 376c/kg. Good heavy weight cows to export processors made to 391c with a fair sample averaging 384c/kg. Heavy weight bulls to export processors made to 378c/kg with one returning $4,
428/head.
