A group of St Brendan-Shaw College students have produced an award-winning commercial as part of their participation in a Dairy Australia program.
The students participated in the Cows Create Careers program, which allows students to learn about the wide range of skills, educational pathways and careers in Australia's dairy industry.
"During the program, they can choose a number of projects and it is very flexible for the students to be able to choose projects that suit their interests," the school's agricultural science teacher Elizabeth Temple said.
"The girls did two projects each and one of those being the commercial competition."
Student Emily Doran explained what the group did to create the commercial, which netted them $1000.
"We shot some videos with the calves and us role playing jobs in the dairy industry," she said.
"Our video went into the top four and some online voting happened and then we found out we won and it was pretty exciting.
"We found out it was a $1000 prize and our class gets to use it next year."
Emily described the benefits of the program.
"The best part has definitely been the flexibility and we have got to learn so much about being around the calves," she said.
"It was really cool to be able to mix their milk up, it was fun to work with my friends and we learnt so much.
"I just thought there was one job but you can see there are hundreds of different opportunities, whether you are on the farm or not.
"It definitely inspires."
"It was good to elaborate on all the stuff I do at work on a dairy farm and definitely points out how good an industry it is."
Burnie High School and Ulverstone Secondary College also took out awards as part of the Cows Create Careers program.
