SHEEP won't be all that's on show at the Elders Riverina Sheep Expo at Deniliquin this Friday with wool fashion also set to take centre stage.
Special guest is Miranda Pereira who has developed her own fashion label, DAATO, designing hand-made garments, home wares and accessories using natural fibres.
Pereira also instigated the National Hands Network which was responsible for the hand knitting, production and delivery of Miranda Pereira to the world.
The National Hands Network was aimed at reigniting employment in rural areas of Australia and was committed to being an Australian made fashion brand.
Pereira will be speaking at the Deniliquin event and visitors will have the opportunity to knit while they attend her presentation.
Riverina-based fashion and textile designer Jo Nathan will showcase garments form her label woolliwoolli at a fashion parade which will also include the Australian Wool Innovation collection.
Nathan works mostly with wool and always with natural fibres.
"Australian Merino is my yarn of choice," she said.
Nathan has worked with AWI in design partnerships and has also had her designs published by Cleckheaton and Patons knitting yarns as hand knit patterns.
Nathan has operated her business woolliwoolli since 2001 and since that time has stocked garments nationally and internationally.
Her designs have also been exhibited at trade and runway shows in Hong Kong, Paris, London, New Delhi, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
Nathan now operates her business woolliwoolli online and makes garments directly for customers.
The fashion parade will begin at 12pm.
