STUD jackaroos from Deniliquin and Warren took out senior honours in the junior sheep judging competition at the 2015 Rabobank National Merino Sheep Show and ram Sale at Dubbo last week.
A total of 170 young people from throughout the state entered the senior and junior aged classes which kept organisers and over judge, Ben Watts, Bralca Merino stud, Molong, busy throughout a long day.
Wanganella Merino stud, jackaroo Will Nadin, Denili-quin, won the senior class for young people 20 to 25 years of age with Matt Farley who jackaroos at the Kater family's Egelabra stud's "Eenaweena" property west of Warren, placed second.
Another Wanganella jackaroo, James Graham, was placed third.
But the competition highlight was the success of Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes, year 8 student, Ryan Browne, Forbes, who became champion junior judge after winning the under 19 years age group's judging, oral presentation and handling sections.
Parkes High School produced the runner-up in this age group, Rachael Beddie, a year 9 student, while Ashley Carter of year 9 at Farrer Memorial Agricu-ltural High School, Tamworth, placed third.
