COMPETITION in the Sydney Royal Southdown ring was a family affair, with Jake Webster, 11, West-Ray stud, Bathurst, taking on his grand parents, Ross and Jeanette Wilson, Cotties Run, Bathurst, to claim three of the four broad ribbons on offer.
Jake, believed to be one if the youngest stud sheep operators in Australia at present, established his stud nine months ago using sheep from both Cotties Run and Clear Hills stud, Goorambat East, Victoria.
Jake's grand ram, from the shorn milk-tooth class, had previously been champion at Canberra Royal last month and claimed a supreme title at Queanbeyan Show.
His reserve ram was drawn from the shorn ram, one to two years old class, and had not been shown before.
The Wilsons shared broad ribbon honours in the ewes, with their top ewe drawn from the milk tooth class, and Jake's reserve drawn from the shorn milk-tooth class.
These ewes placed the same at the Canberra Royal.
