A "COMPLETE package" was sashed Royal Adelaide Show senior champion Jersey cow, in a tough line-up.
Judge Lisa Broad, Lockington, Vic, liked the balance and udder of the "lovely" five-year-old Ashtaney Spiritual Sadie, shown by Andrew Koch, who said it was a fantastic feeling to win.
The Koch family are traditional breeders of Holsteins, with only 30 Jersey cows in their milking herd.
They set up the Ashtaney stud, named after their daughters Ashleigh, Taylah and Courtney, in 2001 and have been showing Jerseys in Adelaide for only about five years.
"This is the first time we've had a champion cow," Mr Koch said.
Reserve champion cow was four-year-old Golden Edge Nautilus Sally, exhibited by JA Haebich and LK Nagel, Yankalilla.
Ashtaney claimed the intermediate championship with 2.5-year-old Ashtaney Headline Taylah, shown by MT&KL Atkins, with three-year-old Rosedale T Bone Fruchoc, Valley View, reserve.
