BOB Such says rural communities should consider Independent candidates before those linked to either of the two major parties.
"The new rationalism is anything but rational," the Independent Member for Fisher said.
"You have politicians making silly, short-term decisions. They have sold everything (utilities and assets) to a point where there's nothing left to sell.
"It's a carryover from Thatcher/Reagan days – I thought we had woken up to that ... it's now the law of the jungle that's hugely disadvantaging country people."
Such left the Liberal party more than a decade ago to stand as an Independent, having been bitterly disappointed about the sale process of ETSA.
If re-elected, he will support a charter to guarantee country people equal access to the basic services enjoyed by those in metropolitan Adelaide.
He says Independents can "kick and scream" and go straight to the ministers of the day: necessary to highlight the problems of rural SA, which "needs fair trade" – not free trade.
