THE CLEAR Grain Exchange (CGX) will continue its roll out across bulk handling networks with the news it will now operate at both Broadbent Grain and Southern Ark storage sites.

Prior to this year, CGX, an online independent grain marketing platform, was exclusive to GrainCorp sites, however it is now available at many of the major bulk handling businesses, including GrainFlow, CBH and Viterra.
Broadbent Grain operates four sites across Queensland, NSW and south-west Victoria while Southern Ark has over 120,000 tonnes of capacity at two sites in Victoria and southern NSW.
Accumulation manager at Broadbent Grain Sam Toll has been keen to offer the grain exchange at his company’s sites for some time.
“We’ve always believed an online marketplace can provide real value to our grower and buyer customers,” he said.
He said the deal would benefit both customer groups.
“The benefit for growers is that they can offer their grain at their price to all buyers.”
“The benefit to buyers is that it becomes easier for them to identify and purchase parcels of grain when they have appetite at our sites,” Mr Toll said.
In other CGX news, general manager of the business Nathan Cattle has purchased the company from its owner NZX following an NZX strategic review which had led to it deciding to reduced its exposure to the agriculture sector.
NZX will retain ownership and operations of the Profarmer Australia and Australian Crop Forecaster businesses, and work closely with CGX in providing a range of products and services to the Australian grain industry.
Mr Cattle said the CGX market will continue to operate as normal and be well supported by the existing team who will transition across to the new business.
