The winners were WA farmers Mic Fels and Duc Nguyen, WA agronomist David Cameron, SA farmer Randall Wilksch, NZ farmer Allan Fong, NZ agronomist Tayah Ryan and Queensland agronomist Tommy Le.
Mr Fels won the grower productivity award, Mr Nguyen the grower people and community award, Mr Cameron the advisor productivity award, Mr Wilksch the grower sustainability award, Mr Fong the Case IH award, Ms Ryan the advisor sustainability award and Mr Le the advisor people and community award.
Paul Luxton, Syngenta’s Australasia territory head said the overall winners were the standouts of an excellent field of 25 regional winners.
“The winners are passionate about their work and dedicated to improving our industry,” he said.
“They have made great achievements across the board, from developing farming apps to implementing successful extension work and championing other growers across their communities.”
The Australasian Winners were chosen from an initial group of 57 nominees and were selected based on a criteria for each category, including their overall contribution to improving the industry.
With such strong competition in this year’s awards, the judging panel selected two growers to receive a special mention.
Naresh Singh, Head Grower of D’VineRipe in SA, and Trevor and Wendy Cross, of Cross Family Farms in Queensland, received special recognition for their work in productivity and sustainability, respectively.
The Growth Awards are presented by Syngenta in partnership with Case IH and Fairfax Agricultural Media. Currently in its third year, the Awards aim to champion growers and agricultural advisers who lead the way in their profession.
