Murweh Mayor Annie Liston has praised the work of volunteers and sponsors to keep the Charleville Show running, in spite of the drought.
Cr Liston was grateful funding from the Department of Communities once again enabled people free entry to this year’s Charleville Show.
“It is such an effort, year round, to ensure the show runs smoothly and so many people work to make it happen,” Cr Liston said.
“This year, given the ongoing drought in certain areas, some people are doing it tough so the monies from sponsors, including the government, have allowed people to come along and enjoy the town and the social activities of the show.
“It always amazes me and brings me personal happiness to see the efforts of locals and visitors, as they are all needed to make the show a success.
Cr Liston was referring to the magnificent display pavilion, filled with artworks, baking and flowers. The craft was also a big drawcard this year.
The warm days and chilly nights of Charleville did not fail, either. People rugged up for the night time entertainment, including the rodeo.
Cr Liston said the show committee would always welcome more volunteers and urged locals to get involved, especially if they want to see the show continue for another 104 years.
