Around 220 women sprawled along the sideline marquee for the Dalby Rugby Union Club’s annual Ladies Day event on Saturday afternoon.
The winter white theme had ladies enjoying bubbles and canapés, cider and raffles, red wine and soft cheeses.
The on-field action saw the home side dominant the opposition in Toowoomba Rangers, winning all three senior grades of rugby.
Event organiser Mel Rowe was overwhelmed with the interest in the event.
“The Wheatmen Ladies Day has been running for over a decade now and has continued to grow and evolve,” she said.
“The day is not only about acknowledging the ladies involved in our club like the wives, girlfriends, mothers, players and supporters, but it is also about welcoming new faces to enjoy a day at the rugby in Dalby.
“It was a gorgeous winter’s day and there was plenty of laughter and cheering from our marquee. It’s been a fantastic day and we hope everyone enjoyed it.”
The committee thanked the local businesses that supported the event through donations of products and vouchers for the mega multi-draw raffle, along with caterers Wattleseed Kitchen and C’est Cheese on the Go.
The Dalby Wheatmen A Grade side showed their class defeating Rangers 36-8 and opening up a 18 point gap between their second place and Rangers third place on the Risdon Cup ladder.
The B Grade home side moved up to top spot on the Downs Rugby ladder with their win over Rangers 33-0.
The Wheatmen C Grade will be looking to get a roll on, going into the back half of the season with a strong win over the Toowoomba lads 24-7.
