OBE Organic managing director Dalene Wray has been announced winner of the Food and Agriculture category of the Advance Award 2018.
The Advance Awards recognise the outstanding contribution of Australians on the world stage.
The award follows Dalene being named Queensland Country Life Beef Achiever of the Year in May 2018, and being awarded a Chief Executive Women – Austrade scholarship to study disruptive innovation at Harvard Business School in July 2018.
All these awards recognise the innovative work Dalene has been driving, which in turn builds on OBE Organic’s pioneering heritage as Australia’s oldest organic beef marketing company established to benefit family farmers. OBE Organic was established by outback farming families more than 20 years ago to create Australia’s first organic beef export supply chain. The company is based in Brisbane and sources organic cattle from properties in the Lake Eyre Basin.
Ten extraordinary Australians are announced as the category winners of the 2018 Advance Awards. Their achievements are in diverse fields from education, sustainability and the arts to financial services and technology innovation, in countries including the UK, USA and India.
“Australians are leaders and changemakers in thought and innovation in many fields and endeavours across the globe,” Advance chairman Yasmin Allen said.
“The Advance Awards recognise the best and brightest each year and tap into their desire to be connected back to Australia to contribute to the country’s growth and prosperity. Through mentorship, academic ties and business introductions, we are creating a smart grid of talent across the globe that is uniquely Australian, yet global.”
In 2018, Advance welcomes NAB as its major partner for the Advance Awards and its Innovation Programs.
The winners will be celebrated at a dinner in Sydney in October. The winner of the overall Advance Award across all categories will be announced on the night.
