Cattle numbers dropped by over half to total 353 head on AuctionsPlus this week. Listings were boosted significantly by 137 cows and calves, a/c Dalkeith Hereford Grazing at Texas. Clearance remained steady at 90 per cent, with bidders in NSW securing the vast majority of stock. Queensland buyers were active, sourcing stock from as far as southern NSW.
From Julia Creek, 160 PCAS eligible Droughtmaster weaned steers, aged 6 to 9 months and weighing 225kg returned 275c or $620/head. From Powermac Droughtmasters, they are part of the vendor’s annual turn off and the lead of the second round weaners.
Twenty Euro cross cows and calves from Coalbank Cattle Co, Coalbank, returned $1680 and were purchased out of the Northern Rivers of NSW. The first calvers are Charolais Droughtmaster cross and in strong store condition, with fresh calves at foot sired by Charolais and Droughtmaster bulls, averaging 85kg.
The annual sale of commercial cows and calves from Dalkeith Grazing attracted 10 unique bidders, with lots being secured out of central west and northern NSW. Offered over seven lots and presenting in strong store to forward store condition, they averaged $1220 and sold to a top of $1340. All calves are sired by Dalkeith Poll Hereford bulls and aged 4-6 months.
Sheep numbers increased slightly to 4270, with similar numbers of grown stock and lambs offered. Clearance remained steady, week on week. From Isisford, J & L Laidler, Longreach offered 740 woolgrower wether lambs weighing 31kg with a 1.5-2” skin which returned $76. Eight decks of Dorper wether lambs were offered from Augathella, a/c LA & AG Smith totalling 1050 head. A line of 500 head weighing 35kg returned $111.50, while 550 head weighing 33kg returned $110.50. From Tambo, Toolmaree Pastoral offered 880 Merino wether hoggets and lambs weighing 39kg, off shears, which returned $73.
