Breed average values hit breed record highs amid strong, consistent and sustained demand at last week’s Glenlands Droughtmaster sale, Bouldercombe.
Culminating in a $1.7 million gross, with another complete clearance the sale witnessed a breed record average of $11,035 for vendors, the Childs family, Glenlands stud, Bouldercombe.
Medium values climbed by $1005 per head over the previous record set in 2017, vindicating the genetic, preparation policies and testing parameters adopted by the prefix. This year’s result saw an extra six bulls sold compared to the 2017 sale.
Sale openers, 16 led bulls averaged $23, 531, topping at $80,000 while 122 unled registered bulls averaged $9942 topping at $47,500 while 17 purebreds sold to $10,500 to average $7118.
Once again demand for the physical product on offer attracted both leading seedstock and commercial producers. Seamark P/L, operated by Jim Gorman, Cliffdale, Theodore and Seloh Nolem, Nebo, returned taking 46 head (30 percent of the offering) to average an economical $7000.
Topping the sale at $80,000 was 25-month-old Winchester (P), weighing 866kg and with an EMA of 143sq cm. The Glenlands Pacific son sold to Ken, Shelley and Ben Mutton and family, Fieldhouse stud, Wickepin, WA.
Winchester joined the 23-month-old Wade, who sold for $11,000, on the journey west. The top seller was offered in a three quarter share full possession arrangement.
Paul and Lisa Laycock, High Country stud, Toogoolawah, bought Whynot (P) for $47,500 and a $15,000 Resolution son. Whynot (P) is the 22-month-old son of Glenlands D Rambo and weighed 914kg. Both were offered in a three quarter share full possession arrangements.
Also at $47,500 was the 22-month, Warlord (P), weighing 820kg the Glenlands Topshelf son sold to Alan and Jonathon Foot and family, Karin Downs, Clermont. Karin Downs ended with two for an average $31,250.
Jim and Rebecca Farquhar, Calco and Eljay studs, Rolleston, parted with $35,000 for Volleys (P), a 29-month son of Glenlands Paterson with a 1028kg weight and 141sq cm EMA.
Dan and Holly Dzundza, Penjobe, Springsure, took 21-month-old Waterhouse (P) for $32,000.
John and Bec Atkinson, Cashmere Stud, Taroom, outlaid $30,000 for the 23-month-old, Watchman (P). Angus and Donna Deane, Malboona, Corfield, secured four at an average $19,500 topping at $40,000 for 18-month-old, Wisconsin (P).
John and Donna Finger, Lake Lofty, Middlemount, took a trio to average $15,667 topping at $20,000 for 23-month-old Washington (P). Luke and Alyce Tincknell, Cambridge Downs, Springsure, picked up the $22,000, Wipeout (P). Bill Catlow, Amberwood stud, Rosevale, claimed the $20,000 Wakefield (P).
Fred Noffke, Keronga, Rolleston, returned taking six to average $11,500 and topping at $16,000, while Fossil Downs, WA accounted for eight to average $10,875, topping at $15,000 including the top selling herd bull.
Ross Kiernan, Bygana, Clermont, put together a draft of eight for a $10,688 average. Top of his selections was the $16,000 Wikipedia (H), a 25-month-old bull weighing 862kg with a 133sq cm EMA.
Stan Tincknell, Avondale stud, Avondale, secured the $15,000 Westwood (P), a 23-month-old Glenlands Remington son.
Graham Bishop and Glen Hoskins, Deep Valley Stud, Donnybrook, WA signed off on a pair to average $11,250 topping at $14,000 for a Glenlands Quartermaster son. The Thomas family, Mt Playfair, Springsure, purchased four to average $13,250 topping at $14,000 twice.
John and Ellen Cotter, Kinbombi Station, Goomeri, returned taking four to average $10,250 topping at $13,500. Bash and Robin Carmichael, Newcombe, Augathella, claimed five to average $9700 and topping at $12,500.
The Payne family, Myola, Springsure, took four to average $9250, topping at $12,000. Dale, Trevor and Shirley Jones, Myra, Clermont, took between them nine to average $9055.
John and Marni Baker, Booroondarra, Middlemount, selected a pair to average $9000.
David Keating, Gracemere, Mitchell, returned taking five for an $8000 average.
Charlie and Jackie Hawkins, Malakoff Downs, Hughenden, signed off on six to average $6750. The Squires family, Eyriewald, Corfield, accounted for five to average $5700.
