Swan Districts defender and Northam local Emma O'Driscoll has been drafted to the Fremantle Dockers as part of this week's AFLW draft. O'Driscoll was selected as draft pick 51 by the Dockers. The 19-year-old secured her spot in the side after an impressive season at Swan Districts and as an over-age player for the under 18s WA state team. A shoulder injury, seeing her sit out of the NAB AFLW Draft Combine earlier this month, did not impact her appeal to the WA club. Speaking to the Avon Valley Advocate earlier this year, O'Driscoll said she had been given a second chance at getting drafted, after a later start to football. "Last year I got a state invitation from a scout and I thought I'd give it a crack," she said. "I didn't expect to get drafted last year since it was my first year of football, but they gave me a second chance to come in a play in the tournament again."
