THE Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) is seeking regional Victorians' feedback on the cost and quality of mobile and broadband service in rural areas.
“Farmers have long complained about the high cost and lack of service of mobile and broadband service in regional Victoria and it’s time something was done about it,” VFF president Peter Tuohey said.
The VFF has developed a targeted survey for all rural Victorian’s to complete on the quality, speed and cost of their internet and mobile connections.
The survey will be tabled at the VFF annual conference on June 26 and its findings will be presented to members, stakeholders and both state and federal governments.
“Without a doubt the lack of internet connection, slow connectivity and mobile blackspots are some of the biggest issues facing regional Victorians,” Mr Tuohey said.
“In order for farmers to really maximise their economic potential, we need to be connected at the same speed as the rest of the nation.
“Access to decent, high speed internet and mobile connections are vital for farmers, their families and the wider rural community."
Mr Tuohey said now was the ideal time to generate feedback on the quality and cost of broadband and mobile services, given the Federal Government was conducting its Federal Regional Telecommunications Review.
This week, Communications Minister Malcom Turnbull announced the review would “...consider whether people in rural, regional and remote areas have equitable access to telecommunications services that are of importance to people in those areas and are currently available in urban areas”.
The survey takes about five minutes and can be completed at
