SA Police in the Far North are among the first to launch trial community facebook pages, joining similar trials in Elizabeth.
Their foray into social networking at a grassroots community level tops up their online presence with their SA Police News facebook and twitter accounts, and their own YouTube channel.
At the launch last month acting superintendent Ian Humby, Port Augusta, said the five dedicated pages in the vast Far North region – Port Augusta, Coober Pedy, Roxby Downs, APY Lands, and North East Pastoral - aiming to find “local solutions for local problems”.
“The local facebook initiatives will help provide a rapid flow of information and allow the public to be heard at a local policing level,” Inspector Humby said.
