IN just over a week more than $30,000 has been pledged to help Schulz Organic Dairy at Timboon, Vic, shift away from using plastic milk bottles.
Since August 1 about 480 people have pledged more than $33,000 to the campaign, which would help the dairy purchase equipment needed to package more of its milk in returnable glass bottles.
Schulz Organic Dairy principal Simon Schulz said the response had been very humbling and showed there was a huge community sentiment to reduce the use of plastics. “It shows the direction of our business is looking at is viable and valuable,” he said. The target of $48,000 would allow the dairy to produce 3000 bottles a week and save six tonnes of single-use plastic bottles from being used.
