
Milk giant Norco and beef processor Northern Co-operative Meat Company combined forces this month to tell China about products and ethics that are ingrained in Northern Rivers' food production.
"The Northern Rivers is the co-operatives capital of Australia and collaboration is in the DNA of the region" said NCMC CEO Simon Stahl, who recently returned from thre China Import Investment Exhibition, held in Shanghai.
"This collaboration is only the start for our producers we think a dedicated Northern Rivers stand with many exhibitors working together would have serious reach into the world's second largest economy."
"What we do need is a Northern Rivers brand underpinning private brands that encapsulates the essence of the region and shares with the world what we already know."
Norco General Manager Export, Tanya Crowther. said: "While we may be a large business on the Northern Rivers, fact is we are tiny on the world stage. We need a point of difference.
"That's when we started talking about a regional Northern Rivers approach to help sell our goods to the China market.
