If there's two things Aussies love, it's good food and a road trip.
Dairy Destinations, a collaboration between Airbnb and Dairy Australia, is where delectable dairy and good times collide.
From unique farm stays in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, to meeting the makers and nibbling your way through a cheese flight along the Great Ocean Road, Dairy Destinations showcases the best of Australia's dairy industry and encourages Aussies to actively support local dairy farmers, producers and communities.
"Together with Airbnb, we're excited to showcase the country's world-class dairy industry," Dairy Australia spokesperson, Emily Coulson said.
"We encourage Aussies to lend their support to these regional communities by visiting and spending with them whilst enjoying our dairy regions."
With international flights currently grounded, it couldn't be a better time to holiday in Australia this year.
Dairy Destinations takes the guesswork out of planning memorable road trips throughout our incredible dairy regions.
You don't have to go far for great dairy, and Dairy Destinations is a testament to that.
South of the Mount Lofty Ranges and just east of the city lies the rolling Adelaide Hills, where visitors can taste their way through quality local ice-cream, yoghurt, chocolate, and artisan cheese.
"Udder Delights is thrilled to be just one of the many stops along the Adelaide Hills Dairy Destinations itinerary," Sheree Sullivan, of spectacular cheese cellar door, Udder Delights, said.
"We welcome guests from around the country to visit our beautiful cellar door to enjoy our Blues and our Bries, our Chevres, Camemberts and more.
"Our talented makers are excited to share their dairy passion with visitors, and to show them the expertise and care that goes in to creating our artisan produce by hand, with top-quality and locally sourced dairy."
Dairy Destinations features 12 picturesque dairy regions right across Australia including Margaret River (WA); Barossa Valley, Fleurieu Peninsula and Adelaide Hills (SA), Murray, Great Ocean Road and Gippsland (VIC), Southern and Northern Tasmania (Tasmania); South Coast and Central Coast (NSW) and the Sunshine Coast (Queensland).
"Airbnb is delighted to partner with Dairy Australia to encourage guests to discover new pockets of regional Australia and spend their precious tourism dollars in these communities," Airbnb's country manager for Australia and New Zealand, Susan Wheeldon said.
"From Bruny Island in Tasmania, to Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, this collection of itineraries showcases some of Australia's finest dairy producers as well as an incredible range of Airbnb listings.
"We're also thrilled to welcome dairy farmers on board as Airbnb hosts."
At a time when Aussies are embracing regional travel and looking to spend their tourist dollars in country towns, Ms Wheeldon believes there's never been a better time to host on Airbnb.
"Whether it's a spare room, converted barn, or entire farm, hosting allows people to take typically their most significant asset and turn it into an income engine that can help with living costs, support additional business ventures and secure their financial future - as well as make a big contribution to their local community," she said.
"Our hosts are very passionate about showing off the patch they call home and are always sure to point guests in the direction of the best hidden gems and local businesses to support."
To celebrate the launch of Dairy Destinations, Dairy Australia and Airbnb will bring the dairy discovery experience to Melbourne with The Milk Bar popping up on Duke Street, Windsor on Thursday, March 25 and Friday, March 26.
Visitors to The Milk Bar can also sample a variety of tasty Australian-made dairy products over the course of the two-day pop-up, such as ice-cream from Dooley's Ice Creamery in Apollo Bay, and a delightful selection of cheeses from regions across the country.
The Milk Bar also welcomes Melburnians to explore the 12 road trip itineraries and book their very own Dairy Destinations getaway.
Dairy Destinations is the latest instalment of the dairy industry's campaign Dairy Matters: Buy, Support, Enjoy Aussie Dairy, which encourages Australians to buy local Aussie made dairy, and support local communities and livelihoods.
