PERFECTLY timed given current hay pricing, a South Australian hay rake, manufactured with workplace health and safety in mind, has won the Henty Machine of the Year Award.
Naracoote based manufacturer, Simon Schinckel said he had been manufacturing rakes for about 27 years and with the winning Next F model, the company had worked hard to reduce cost and improve safety.
“We have redesigned things over the last 12 to 18 months and just to make everything easier for a farmer to use,” he said.
“Things have to be made safe and easy to use, with no lifting to be done.
“We are trying to streamline operations and make it cheaper, make it more competitive to the open market these days.”
Henty Machinery Field Days continue today and Thursday, with gates open at 8am.
