German manufacturer Lemken has been awarded an Agritechnica innovation silver medal for a retro-fit solution that allows farmers to convert existing implements into smart machines.
Lemken said the iQblue connect was a highly versatile retrofitting kit that converted existing technology into smart machines for modern farming processes.
"When combined with Tractor Implement Management, the device allows numerous functions of purely mechanical implements to be automated," it said.
Lemken said operators could use one iQblue connect module with multiple implements.
Connected to the tractor through ISOBUS, the iQblue also integrates GPS and a mobile data connection for communication, for example with a farm management software platform.
"Data is transmitted via the agrirouter, a cross-manufacturer platform for exchanging data between machines, farmers, contractors and software applications," Lemken said.
"Depending on the intended use, a sensor kit is permanently installed on the implement to record the required information and pass it on to the iQblue connect module.
"No further equipment is needed on the implement, as the tractor is used for controlling it."
