Antonio Carraro’s Tony range is an all new design of the company’s compact reversible design for rowcrop, viticulture and horticulture applications.
Available in TR (fixed chassis) and SR (articulated chassis) designs, the Tony is fitted with an four cylinder, 63 kilowatt Tier 4 compliant Yanmar diesel engine, a mechanical hydrostatic transmission and Shift in Motion (SIM) technology offering four electronically controlled, shift on-the-go speed ranges.
The transmission has cruise control and Intellifix constant torque management as well as implement function controls.
Antonio Carraro says the constant variable transmission is the best of their specialised technology and allows the operator to personalise the performance to suit their style.
The fully pressurised cabin option is a new design with reversible steering console and full ROPS/FOPS accreditation and still keeps the machine under 2.1 metres clearance and as narrow as 1060 millimetres wide depending on the wheel and tyre selection.
The linkage is a synchronised PTO set at 540/540E, with an electro-hydraulic control and progressive engagement and there are three remote valves at the rear and two at the front of the machine.
Antonio Carraro product innovation manager, Massimiliano Carraro told Fairfax Media after the EIMA 2016 Tractor or the Year awards, the design was the culmination of years of customer feedback, with the intelligent tractor (ITAC) software developed entirely in-house.
“I’m very proud to have won the best specialised tractor award from lots of competition,” he said.
“There has been a very long and testing process before we put this tractor into production including a lot of testing in the fields and a lot of information exchange with suppliers to make them understand what we needed and what the customer wants.
“We have come out with this completely new project that is focused on safety, low noise, comfort, visibility and the ROPS/FOPS elements,” Mr Carraro said.
He said the Tony SR and TR models were the first of a range of tractors that will move the company into a new era of precision control.
The Tony was a particularly agile tractor for steep applications, or where good handling is required, but still offered plenty of power and the low centre of gravity for safe performance, Mr Carraro said.
Traction capacity is said to be 30 per cent greater than that of the standard model.
